Instagram Ask Me Anything with Kirsty Raper (@Rebuildagram), Jamie Walton (nettlesandpetals), Gemma Haigh (@thePlantParlourgram), Jonny Hincks (@gardenwithjonny), Julie Skelton (@julieskeltonphoto) August Bernstein (@augusts_garden) and Alexandra Campbell (@the_middlesized_garden).

Ranging from a few thousand to over a million followers each, our panellists cover a broad spectrum of accounts across Instagram’s gardening community. They’ll be sharing how they make Instagram work for them and how they use strategy to further their goals.

Writers, photographers and influencers all use Instagram in different ways and the platform changes fast. There really is no ‘one size fits all approach’, but nothing beats talking to real people about their experiences.

Have you ever wondered how often to post? Do reels, carousels, or stories work best for garden media? Do hashtags work at all anymore? Can I crack the algorithm?

You can ask these questions and many more. Join us to find out whether Instagram can help you get more opportunities or want to know how to use Instagram to promote your work.

Join us on May 7th at 7pm for an Instagram Ask Me Anything with our experienced panel. You won’t want to miss this one!

Our panel:

Kirsty Raper (@Rebuildagram) is an Instagram specialist, TechPixies’ 2023 Social Media Provider of the Year, and co-founder of Reels Rockstars, offering reels ideas and filming/editing tuition.

Jamie Walton won the 2024 GMG Individual Social Media Influencer of the Year. @nettlesandpetals focuses on growing food and flowers ecologically and has 1.3M followers. His book Nettles & Petals: Grow Food, Eat Weeds and Sow Seeds is published by Quarto.

Gemma Haigh is an influencer and houseplant expert who designs ‘interior landscapes’ (the garden designer equivalent for house plants). @thePlantParlourgram inspires a community of 8K people, working on brand collaborations with companies like Hozelock, Fairview New Homes and Ivyline.

Jonny Hincks (@gardenwithjonny) has built a following of 751K by making gardening funny and relatable. By stitching other creator’s content, creating original audio and starting conversations, Jonny’s popularity has sky-rocketed in recent years, transcending the gardening community and reaching new audiences.

Julie Skelton (@julieskeltonphoto) is an award-winning garden photographer using Instagram to showcase her work and generate new leads. Her @julieskeltonphoto Instagram profile is now as valuable to her photography business as her website.

August Bernstein is an influencer and Head Tutor of the Raymond Blanc Garden School. On @augusts_garden, which has 132K followers, she shares her passion for growing and love of sustainable organic fashion. August joins us to talk about all things brand collaborations and the advantages of having an agent.

Chaired by Alexandra Campbell, co-chair of the GMG, who finds her 38K Instagram following helps start conversations and build relationships in the gardening media world.
