Garden Media Guild Exclusive Meet & Greet with Nick Bailey
Wednesday 11 June, 3.30pm, NEC Birmingham
The organisers of BBC Gardeners’ World Live are delighted to invite members of the Garden Media Guild to an exclusive Meet & Greet with Nick Bailey on Wednesday 11 June during Press Preview afternoon, at his headline Show Garden, The Plant-Based Garden. Nick will introduce his garden and its role in the BBC Gardeners’ World Make a Metre Matter campaign, designed to encourage people to transform one metre of outdoor space to help the planet.
About The Plant-Based Garden
The Plant-Based Garden is a plastic- and concrete-free garden packed with sustainable highlights, resources and materials. It has a homestead feel with a cluster of characterful, feature buildings, meadow-like planting, an elegant dining space and a series of beds for cut flowers, veg, herbs and composting. A multi-occupancy birdhouse is designed to suit different bird species. Ornamental one metre ponds will demonstrate how to attract a range of wildlife in a tiny space. Block planting metres will provide colour inspiration and attract pollinators, with raised bed metres proving that productive veg growing is possible in the tightest spots.
“I’ve designed a garden with sustainability at its heart and with heaps of Make a Metre Matter ideas to take home. I want to prove that it's possible to create a whole garden with only renewable resources and I hope people will embrace its ethos.”
