This photography award celebrates the best in garden photography and photographers are asked to submit a portfolio of garden related images following a theme of their choice. The photographer is asked to describe the theme, why it was chosen and give any other supporting information that would be relevant, in no more than 300 words.
For material shot in the last 5 years; between Friday, 27th August 2021 and Thursday, 27th August 2026.
Please note: images do NOT need to have been published to qualify.
As part of the judging process, the portfolio will be judged by how closely it reflects the explanation and how closely the images relate to each other thematically. The portfolio should consist of between 8 and 10 images taken up to five years ago.
Technical requirements
Entries should exclude watermarks, borders and signatures. Digital manipulation and other post-capture processes are allowed. Entrants must not misrepresent manipulated subjects as unmanipulated nor artificially created ones as natural. Entrants will be required to detail any digital techniques/manipulation used as part of their entry.
Use of AI - The use of software or AI systems to produce an image is prohibited. Images must have been created using photographic equipment (including cameras in mobile phones) to capture a real scene. General photo editing software that utilises AI or “intelligent” tools or plug-ins may be used in post-production to enhance the images you have already captured, such as eliminating small distracting elements from the scene.
However AI-based tools or plug-ins may not be used to generate or add in objects that weren’t present at the time of photographic capture, nor should they be used to generate a made-up scene, in whole or part. If the use of AI algorithms or tools exceeding the constraints specified here is suspected then you may be asked to submit the original/RAW file for comparison and if the entry is deemed to not comply with these conditions then it may be disqualified.
Entry is open to all and is free to GMG members; a fee of £45 is applicable to non-member entrants.
This entry form must be complete by Thursday, 27th August 2026 and your jpeg images must be uploaded to dropbox by Thursday, 3rd September 2026.
