16 Individual Social Media Influencer of the Year

For the communicator who inspires, educates or informs followers about gardening by posting regularly on one or more platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok or others), generating an engaged following, replying to questions and comments and interacting with followers.

For material published between Friday, 30th August 2024 and Thursday, 28th August 2025.

Entrants should show how they have effectively used Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube or other social media platforms or a combination of platforms to promote themselves, brands they work with or any aspect of gardening. The judges want to see 5 examples of posts/uploads that represent your activity. Please note that entrants should always disclose sponsored posts, advertising or free products according to Advertising Standard Authority guidelines

Entry is open to all and is free to GMG members; a fee of £45 is applicable to non-member entrants.

Which Social Media Category Should I Enter?
If you are a media professional whose social media is in your own name but is managed by a team, should you enter Brand or Individual category? The decision is left to the entrant, although if more than 50% of the content is produced by others, then Brand would be more appropriate. However, the entry will count as an entry in your name (one of your four entries) and you may not enter both Individual and Brand.

For example, Fred Smith is an author and influencer. His social media profiles are called ‘Fred Smith’ and are managed by a team or company with input from Fred, although he leaves questions and comments to the team. He enters it for Brand Social Media Influencer of the Year. This counts as one of Fred Smith’s three permitted entries to the Awards.

Mary Smith is a photographer and influencer. Her social media profiles are called ‘Mary Smith’ and are mainly handled by a social media freelancer. However, Mary decides which photos are to feature and makes a point of checking or answering many questions and comments herself. She enters Individual Social Media Influencer of the Year.
