Gardens often have a variety of conditions, and we will look at how to identify these to make the right plant choices and create new opportunities. • Demystifying planting design-Lots of tools (not rules) for putting plants together. What is meant by structure, shape and form in the garden? How do we create appealing contrasts, long term interest, what does complementary and harmonious colours mean and much more. • Making the winter garden shine- Looking at gardens as a source of year round pleasure brings opportunities for planting and enjoyment. We will look at bulbs, scent, winter flowering shrubs, stems and lots of plants that put on a good show in winter. • Tricks and techniques for rejuvenating a garden- Drawing on my experience as a garden adviser in gardens ranging from small courtyards to country estates, we'll look at ideas and achievable ways of adding new life to gardens. • Sketching workshops- A variety of workshops on sketching for garden design, to engage with nature and as a tool to assess and improve planting.
