Biography

I started out as a professional gardener but was lured by opportunities for writing, speaking, presenting and broadcasting. Favourite tv work has included presenting Gardeners World alongside the legendary Geoff Hamilton, Bloom and Gardens of The Caribbean. Since 1994 I've been a regular panellist on BBC Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time and I write for Candis magazine. My garden in East Devon is too big for us and grows wilder by the day but I don't care. Growing a bit of everything helps me answer all those gardening questions and I still have a large collection of house plants and a passion for South African succulents and bulbs.
