Biography

I am co-founder of Caley Brothers, an award-winning mushroom-growing company dedicated to making fungi accessible, fun and sustainable. Alongside my sister Jodie, we design hands-on mushroom kits, educational materials and workshops that teach people how to grow their own edible and functional mushrooms at home, in schools or within community spaces. We are passionate about connecting people with the natural world, using fungi as a gateway to understanding ecosystems, food resilience and sustainable living. The Caley Brothers regularly exhibit at RHS shows, including the Chelsea Flower Show, where their immersive displays highlight the beauty, diversity and ecological importance of mushrooms - achieving 5x gold medals over the past 3 years. Lorraine also leads communications for the company - writing newsletters, educational guides and articles to inspire a growing audience of mushroom lovers across the UK.

Additional Interests

Both Lorraine & Jodie are deeply interested in sustainability, soil health and the role of fungi in regenerative systems. We enjoy exploring natural growing methods, forest ecosystems and the intersection of food, wellbeing and education. Outside of work we're passionate about creative storytelling and currently developing a children’s book to inspire young minds about the magic of mushrooms. We enjoy connecting with other growers, educators and eco-minded organisations to collaborate on community projects and educational initiatives that bring nature-based learning into everyday life.
