Biography

I joined the Garden Media Guild as a photographer: my work is focused on photographing gardens for features in newspapers and magazines. plants, and do a decent portrait of the owners. I have over 9,000 images on GAP photos, but many more than that in my own collection. Many of my images have been used in books and I did all the photography for Discovering Welsh Gardens which was published March 2009 and which was a finalist in the GMG awards. I also contributed the photography for The Bad Tempered Gardener written by my wife, Anne Wareham and published May 2011. With Anne I am the co-creator of Veddw House Garden which we started in 1987 and which has an international reputation. We open regularly to the public in the spring and summer to individuals and coach parties. For details see our website, www.veddw.com.

Additional Interests

I am a keen walker/hiker and I blog regularly at charleshawes.veddw.com. I have completed several long distance paths including The Dales Way, the entire 870 miles of the Wales Coast Path and am currently doing the Cambrian Way in stages.
