Biography

Gina Dover-Jaques is a UK-based photographer and writer whose research-led practice explores how horticultural expertise shapes the experience of historic gardens and cultivated landscapes. Working primarily with analogue photography, she combines observation, conversation and writing to investigate the ways professional knowledge is expressed through gardens. Her long-term documentary project, Reading Gardens, follows specialists through significant landscapes to explore how expertise influences observation, interpretation and movement through place. The first study, Reading Rousham, features garden historian Advolly Richmond OBE. Future studies will explore the perspectives of a head gardener, a landscape architect and an ecological steward. Gina welcomes opportunities to collaborate with gardens, heritage organisations, publishers and editorial commissions.
