Biography

Platinum Award Winning Garden Designer - BBC Gardeners World Live 2023 (Love Yourself & Nature Retreat) Ben Thornton started The Young Grower back in 2018 as a place to share what he was doing on his nodding organic garden, little did he know this would have led to become an award-winning gardener in 2021. His hard work and determination has lead to become a kitchen garden expert, inspiring and encouraging thousands to grow naturally, using organic methods and working with nature. Living with a life long disability after getting paralysed in 2009, Ben choose to share my whole journey with those who follow him and to show them that even though there are challenges in our daily lives, with determination, tenacity and good old hard work, our goals and dreams are still within our reach. Over the last 5 years I have been on a personal journey of recovery, building my personal brand and reputation in the horticultural industry through becoming a gardening blogger gaining 18,000+ followers online. Also having a Facebook gardening group with over 11,000 members from the allotment and gardening community. Furthermore, I appeared on BBC Gardeners World twice during covid 19 pandemic and received high praises from Monty Don. A published writer for Kitchen Garden Magazine. I won gold at the great British growing awards in the category, Britain’s Best Gardening Influencer of 2021. In 2022 I wrote a column with Harrod Horticultural.
