Biography

Being nearer ninety than eighty I am now retired, though working on archive material for the Garden Museum and recording previous talks. Previously I wrote books, lectured and broadcast primarily on vegetable growing, with special interests in organic and intensive systems, oriental and salad vegetables, and creating beautiful kitchen gardens Now I would add an enforced interest in conquering the limitations of gardening in old age and the challenges of global warming. Am always happy to hear from active gardeners and share experiences. Awarded GMG Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003.
