Biography

Laura McArthur is a horticultural professional and lecturer based in the West Midlands, whose work sits at the intersection of horticulture, media and professional development. She lectures at Pershore College and works across talks, writing and consultancy, contributing insight on garden design practice, career progression and the horticultural industry. Laura has been a guest on podcasts and has spoken on industry panels at Groundsfest and Next Step Ahead, with a forthcoming panel appearance at the Beth Chatto Symposium this year. A background in journalism within the arts and sports sectors and has written for a range of horticultural publications. In 2026, Laura launched a coaching and mentoring business alongside a monthly blog focused on garden design, career growth and horticultural shows. Available for editorial contributions, commentary, talks and podcasts.

Additional Interests

Laura’s wider professional interests include countryside management, traditional horticultural and land-based practices, and the relationship between agriculture, land management and landscape. She is particularly interested in how practical skills, heritage approaches and sustainable land use can inform contemporary horticulture and garden design, and how these disciplines can be better represented and communicated within horticultural media.
