We have arranged a visit for GMG Members to Mona Abboud & Sue Whittington’s beautiful London gardens on Thursday, 24th March.
Mona’s Garden - 10:30am - 12:00pm
Sue’s Garden - 1:30pm - 3:00pm
Parking - Some on-street parking is available and the nearest tube station is Highgate. There is a 20 minute walk or a 10 minute drive between the two gardens. Some car-sharing on the day between gardens may be arranged.
It should be noted that both gardens are not wheelchair friendly and have some uneven pathways and steep steps.
Mona’s Garden:
New GMG member Mona’s award winning garden in North London is home to the National Collection of Corokia. This plant is particularly relevant today as a perfect alternative to box, which has been decimated by box blight and caterpillar throughout the UK and the rest of Europe. She has recently written and published a book on the subject: “Corokia - My Adventure”. Her garden also plays host to many other unusual New Zealand plants as well as plants from other parts of the world. Mona's garden will be featured in the March issue of the RHS The Garden magazine.

Sue’s Garden:
Densely planted garden hidden behind C18 house (not open) with many unusual plants. The garden includes ponds, a waterfall, frogs, toads and newts. Topiary shapes formed from self-sown yew trees. Sculpture carved from three trunks of a massive conifer which became unstable in a storm. Hard working greenhouse!

Our visit will start at 10am and the first garden tour begins at 10:30 am. Whilst no lunch will be provided, the nearby Woodman pub serves great pub food or you are free to bring a packed lunch to eat between the garden visits. Sue is also renowned for her delicious cakes which will be available during the visit to her garden. There are no restrictions on photography and the visitors free to members. As numbers are limited, it may not be possible to bring a guest.
