Biography

Emma is the founder of Grounded Gardens, providing services to help people make their gardens truly their own. In her gardening communication work she draws on this practical experience, and her design and horticultural training. She also brings her career history in public sector strategy and transformation (including as a PwC Director), social support services and her psychology degree. Her aim is to create and deliver communications that help people connect with gardening in meaningful ways.

Fees: Online delivery of a 60min session: £95 In person delivery of a 60min session: £120 plus travel expenses (typically 45p per mile) Reduced fees may be available for charitable organisations, please get in touch to discuss

Talks: Emma currently offers two main talks which explore the connections between gardens, people and place. She likes to learn more about the group’s interests beforehand to weave these in. Harnessing the power of gardening - The benefits of gardening at individual, societal and ecological levels - Examples throughout history from the uk and internationally, including: ecology, recovery, survival, activism, connection and remembrance. - Key learnings that can be applied Making a garden with meaning - The benefits of place attachment and meaning making - Examples of particularly meaningful personal and community gardens - Designing for people: how to find and represent your voice and/or the voice of those using the space - Designing for place: how to discover and apply information about the wildlife, ecosystems and history of the local area These are typically delivered as 45 min talks followed by questions, but can be extended to 60mins if a Q&A isn’t part of the group’s format.
