Biography

Based in North East England I trained in horticulture and have over 30 years experience as a Chartered Landscape Architect. Working in all aspects of urban, landscape and garden design I regularly lecture on a range of related topics including the lives of the great plant hunters, the history of garden and landscape design, seasonal gardens etc. As a published writer and photographer I also sell photographic images and work to commission for writing and photography. I am able to travel to deliver talks and lectures or for photographic shoots for plants and gardens.

Additional Interests

I have a specialist interest in urban trees; the positive benefits of both health and social wellbeing, that trees bring to our towns and cities, the mounting pressure on maintaining our current stock and ensuring that there are trees for future generations. My garden and allotment plus rock climbing, hill walking and mountaineering take up much of my spare time. I have some bee hives (hopefully, if they survive all the current problems with disease etc).
