Biography

I'm a freelance gardening writer, copywriter, editor and speaker. My latest book 'Secret Gardens of Somerset' was published by Frances Lincoln (2020 & 2024) and explores the county's most beautiful and fascinating gardens. I offer illustrated talks and enjoy sharing my passion for gardens and garden history with audiences. My back list includes: 'The London Garden Book A-Z' (finalist GMG Awards), 'The Remarkable Case of Dr Ward & other Amazing Gardening Innovations' (Laurence King, 2018). Freelance clients include Orion Books, Mudwalls Farm, Ashridge Trees and I have written for magazines including RHS The Garden, Somerset Life, as well as online for The Independent, Time Out, Homes & Gardens, The English Home, The City Planter, and The Chelsea Fringe. I hold the RHS General Certificate, and worked for several years as a gardener for private clients. I am a member of the Visual Arts and Architecture section of The Critics' Circle.

Additional Interests

I enjoy pottering in my garden and on my allotment, swimming in lidos around the country and the seemingly never-ending quest to bake the perfect sourdough loaf.
