Biography

Jayne lives in Barnsley, South Yorkshire and writes about how people can make the most of their gardens and outdoor living space for national and regional newspapers, magazines and digital publications, including Times Bricks & Mortar, Sunday Times Home, The Yorkshire Post, Country Living, House Beautiful, Ideal Home, Homes & Gardens, Grand Designs and gardeningetc.com. Awarded the Garden Journalist of the Year accolade at the Property Press Awards in 2021, and shortlisted again in 2022, she has an Oxford degree in English Language and Literature and a lifelong love of gardens, homes and interiors. Her first memories include planting potatoes with her grandfather - who won many an amateur competition for his veg and roses - and drawing houses. Jayne's own first garden was a balcony in Islington, North London, After a sub-tropical sheltered plot on the Isle of Dogs and a family-friendly third of an acre when her two children were kicking footballs and building dens, she now battles a south-facing sloping garden on the side of a valley with the help of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier named George. Always practical and consumer-friendly, her work covers everything from planning borders to choosing garden sinks. She also loves interviewing gardeners and garden designers.
