Biography
Susie writes for national newspapers and magazines, reviews books for the Garden Design Journal, writes about wild and garden plants. She experiments with, then writes about, the planting in her own garden, subject of 2-year series for The English Garden, filmed for Gardeners' World, featured in Clive Nichol's book Brilliant English Gardens and in Gardens Illustrated. Author of seven books on herbs, Ten Principles of Artful Garden Design, Gardens of Northumberland & the Borders, Second Nature: The Story of a Naturalist's Garden, The Gardener & the Moth; Planting for Moths & Butterflies & Nature’s Almanac: A Gift for Every Day of the Year. NGS Northumberland Assistant County Organiser. Specialist subjects: northern gardens, organic, wild planting, wildlife. Country Diarist for 15 years in Guardian's 100 year old column.
