Biography

Susie writes for national newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, reviews books for the Garden Design Journal and writes about wild and garden plants for BBC Countryfile. She experiments with, then writes about, the planting in her own garden, subject of a two year series for The English Garden magazine. It was filmed for Gardeners' World and is featured in Clive Nichol's book Brilliant English Gardens and in Gardens Illustrated. Author of seven books on herbs, Ten Principles of Artful Garden Design, and Gardens of Northumberland and the Borders. Garden columnist since 2014 for My Weekly magazine. NGS Northumberland Assistant County Organiser. Specialist subjects: northern gardens, organic, wild planting, wildlife. Country Diarist for 10 years in Guardian's 100 year old column. Designer of a 'classic English garden' for historic Jonsered Manor near Gothenburg. Latest book Second Nature: The Story of a Naturalist's Garden published by Saraband.
