Biography

Past President of the Landscape Institute, now Chair of the College of Fellows. Chartered Landscape Architect and Double RHS Gold Medal winner, Double BBC RHS People's Choice Award winner and RHS Best in Show winner at RHS Hampton in 2017. Made a Fellow of the Landscape Institute in 2012 for his influential role in changing the way public spaces are designed for children. Writes a monthly column for Pro Landscaper Magazine and presents various online films highlighting the value of play in the landscape. From 2013 to 2017 he was the host of the Landscape Institute Awards. Adam regularly gives lectures and design workshops on creating play in sensitive landscape locations across the UK. He is the author of Nature Play: managing and maintaining playful landscapes. Along with fellow landscape architect, Andree Davies, he is a director of Davies White Ltd. Together they co-designed the RHS Back to Nature Garden at RHS Chelsea 2019 with the Princess of Wales. In 2022 he was named in the UK's Top 25 most influential landscape professionals.

Additional Interests

Since 2021 he has been a Director and Trustee of The Sustainable Landscape Foundation. Since 2014 he has been the co-owner of Whites Sports, The World's Oldest Sports Shop, est 1901. In his spare time he runs, cycles and swims and walks his cocker spaniel Watson in the Surrey Hills. He is a retired rower, balloon modeller & bingo caller.
