I'm a blogger, author, journalist and blogging/writing coach. Having worked on women's magazines for most of my career (She, Harpers & Queen, Good Housekeeping), I went freelance and wrote for many national newspapers and magazines, including The Daily Telegraph, The Times Magazine, The FT How To Spend It magazine, Country Living, Ideal Home and more. I now blog at The Middlesized Garden blog (ranked in the top 10 UK gardening blogs by both Vuelio and Teads). I'm available for freelance writing assignments - either blog posts or features. If you have a private or company blog, I can also help you make the most of it, or help you set one up. I offer blogging workshops or one-to-one 'Blog Clinic' sessions, either in person or by Skype/Facetime/email. I'm an accredited writing coach (NAWE/Arvon/RD1st). My nine novels have been published by Penguin and Little Brown, most recently under the name Nina Bell. They are about contemporary relationships, and titles include Sisters-in-Law, Lovers & Liars and The Empty Nesters. I've also written books on interiors, co-authored with stylist Liz Bauwens, as well as interior designers Kelly Hoppen and Nina Campbell. I have helped people get started as authors, usually as an initial two-hour session on focusing the book. Authors who have been successfully published after this early-stage advice include Simon Doughty & James Kerr (Silent Landscape, pub 2016), Emma Slade (publication due 2017) and Matt Jackson (Lunar & Biodynamic Gardening, pub 2015).
As well as gardening, I love interior design, food and cookery and country walks with my dog. I am an avid reader of novels, especially crime novels. My latest passion is learning garden photography, and I was delighted when the charity Perennial GB chose one of my photographs for their annual calendar and diary.
