Alyson Chorley

After 17 years working as a journalist in Somerset, I moved into charity PR. My first role was as PR and Communications Manager with Somerset Wildlife Trust. A move towards London meant looking for a new opportunity and I found Thrive! A wonderful charity, Thrive is the leading organisation in the UK that uses gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people who are living with disabilities or ill health or those who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable. Whilst the charity has three regional centres, it also works in the community and offers training in Social and Therapeutic Horticulture to professionals. Managing the all the PR and Communications for Thrive is a challenge (I currently work part time) - but a fun one in the Business Development Team. As well as managing the press output for Thrive, I am in charge of all Social Media, the website and I am the Editor of GrowthPoint our seasonal, subscription-only e-magazine dedicated to horticultural therapy. I am always happy to contribute articles to magazines, appear on the radio and liaise with TV companies for filming. We have recently appeared on BBC TV's Garden Rescue. Thrive is 40 in 2018 so I would love to secure some coverage for that!
