Biography

Coming from generations of kitchen gardeners on the Royal Windsor Estates, Jayne returned to gardening herself over ten years ago as a way of living frugally and to support mental health. She is a fully qualified and experienced teacher of media and performing arts. In 2015 Jayne set up the Allotment Cooks facebook page to share gardening tips and recipe ideas within a supportive community. This lead to a collaborative recipe book from The Allotment Cooks in 2016. Jayne appeared in Kitchen Garden Magazine in 2019. From this she has then developed and grown by combining her professional media and performing work with her knowledge and enthusiasm for growing edibles and ornimentals. Jayne first appeared on BBC Radio Lincolnshire in 2019 and has been a regular expert on the local radio Gardening programme since 2021. She has provided voice overs, is a garden speaker and has an online presence across all social media channels. Jayne is also an advocate of gardening in schools and has been a key note speaker, as well as designed and developed a curriculum growing space within school environments. Jayne is currently a community garden chairperson, linked to developing community growing spaces to support social therapeautic horticulture and designer of a growing space to support gardeners with disabilities. A regular blogger and vlogger, Jayne has presented online at many live events, as well as using her photography, videography and editing skills to develop short films. This has included her current series on how to garden organically and with an environmental conscience for the national peat free compost company Heart of Eden AHS Ltd.
